PUBLIC SPEAKING (offered for rising grades 10-12)
This course introduces students to basic techniques and principles of vocal study and oral speech. Classroom exercises will involve presentations of speeches both assigned and created by the student for working out individual presentational challenges. The student will discover their own strengths about public speaking, as well as learn how to develop confidence and self-awareness while speaking.

WATER SAFETY (offered for rising grades 10-12)
Water Safety allows students to develop or increase comfort in the water, improve swimming strokes, and learn about safety guidelines when involved in water activities, including boating safety and personal safety techniques. Students are expected to participate in the water each day. Swimming laps, swimming continuously in the deep end for a predetermined time, and learning to paddle a canoe/kayak are just some of the activities included in this water specific course. Basic swim skills are recommended but not required for this course. Students should be prepared each day with their swimsuit, towel, and goggles (optional). Teacher: Ann McCabe

HEALTH II (offered for rising grades 11-12)
Health II discusses topics of concern specific to high school and college-bound women. The course helps students make intelligent decisions on matters pertaining to personal and community health. This course offers multiple speakers on different health-related topics, human sexuality, and comprehension of the laws related to drugs and alcohol. Recertification through the American Red Cross, stress management and depression, breast cancer, growth and development, body image and eating disorders, and nutrition are also covered throughout the course.The self-defense portion of the course follows the R.A.D. Systems program of self-defense. It will help students develop safety techniques using their voices as well as physical capabilities in real-world situations. Students should wear clothing and shoes appropriate for daily physical activities.
