Parents' Association

MOSAIC is an organization for parents of students of African descent interested in continuing Columbus School for Girls' diversity efforts and works to foster a more inclusive school community. Our mission is to: 
 

• Ensure our children are getting the most from their CSG experience;
• Be resources for ourselves and our children as well as for parents/families of prospective students;
• Expand our role in increasing diversity at CSG through services and outreach and educational cultural and philanthropic endeavors;
• Broaden our own awareness of the diverse cultures within society, and specifically, within the CSG community; and
• Share our diverse cultures and experiences among ourselves and our children and with the larger CSG community.

You will find snacks, drinks, and popcorn in the Concession Stand: Open during HOME indoor sporting events (volleyball, basketball, swimming, and diving). Children are welcome (encouraged) to work in the concession stand; however, they cannot be left unattended.

The Parents’ Association recognizes CSG’s faculty and staff twice during the school year: the second week of November and the first week of May. The PA has held parent-led luncheons, provided daily treats, and purchased unique spirit wear all through donations raised by parents buying Sponsor A Teacher vouchers that are sold through the Unicorner. Every penny raised is spent making sure all of our faculty and staff members feel special, loved, and very much appreciated

CSGPA has a Fall Mumkins Sale and a Spring Flower Sale in February. 

The Fall Mumkins sale provides hardy, beautiful mums placed inside an Mumkin or Mumster pot. Every house will need to decorate their porch with a few of these adorable plants!  Online sale date is August 17th - September 6th with pick-up on October 2nd. 

The Spring Flower sale offers a wide variety of plants, hanging baskets, annuals, planters, and edibles. All of our plants are finished products and are delivered to CSG for parents to pick up. Our flowers are grown to be strong and long lasting. Many of our annual varieties last until fall! Committee members are welcome to join to support marketing, logistics, and website updates. The Online sale runs from early February through Spring Break with pick up on May 6th.

Lots of volunteers are needed for both flower sales. Sign up sheets will be posted closer to event dates or use this link to join the committee.

The CSGPA thrift shop, the Attic, offers pre-loved uniforms for children of all ages. Donations are always welcome and appreciated. Please make sure your donations have been washed before you leave them with the Receptionist at the main entrance. School uniforms and spirit wear are the only donations accepted. The Attic is especially in need of sweaters. Purchases can be made in person by visiting the Attic during school hours, or by placing an order online through the Unicorner. Online orders will be delivered to your daughter or shipped directly to your home.

The Parents’ Association provides relief for the front desk receptionist from 11:00am-1:00pm everyday. Job requirement: Answer the phones and monitor door coverage. We are currently in need of substitutes for regular volunteers who may call in sick.

Come to CSG the weekend before school starts and meet/get reacquainted with your classmates. A few games will be on site as well as a gluten-free/dairy-free snack. Students and parents are welcome. Faculty/Staff and your Form Parent will be present to answer any/all questions you may have for the upcoming year. The Unicorner and Attic will be open and available for Back to School purchases.

Location:  CSG Playground

The Form Parent is the face of the Parents’ Association in each form. Form parents coordinate division/form social events that build community among the parents and students. In addition, provide form-specific communication to parents throughout the school year. 

Form Activity Contribution Form:  Parents/Guardians can make contributions to support classroom activities. The funds are used for parties (Halloween, Valentine’s Day, etc.) and other miscellaneous classroom activities, which change by division. Unspent funds roll over each year and any balance remaining by Form XII is used to support the Senior Brunch.

Mission:
Embrace the Latinx cultural diversity of the CSG current and prospective Latinx community while ensuring the accurate representation of its student body and community members and foster a healthy and safe environment where participants are comfortable with exploring their identity and sharing their experiences through educational and social events. Raíces thrives to provide a recourse to all members of the CSG Latinx community, current and new students, as well as faculty members and staff.

Objectives:

1. Serve as a resource for prospect/new students and their family in collaboration with the admissions office.
2. Plan and execute three educational engagement events during the school year in coordination with leadership, including lectures, seminars, and panels. These events are to occur during the Hispanic Heritage Month, the winter, and the spring.
3. Coordinate events to involve CSG Latinx faculty and staff.
4. Plan and execute “Cafecito Hour”, an opportunity for Latinx families to gather in an informal meeting, share experiences, and plan events.

Volunteers are needed to help with Admissions and Concessions at Kirk Campus Events. For admissions we only plan on collecting ticket sales for the first half of the game. For Concessions we plan on being open/available from the start of the game through the end to allow for post-game player purchases.
