Capital University President Elizabeth L. "Beth" Paul, Ph.D., to deliver address at Commencement
A national leader in higher education, Dr. Paul became the 16th president of Capital University in 2016. As the university's leader, she supports the learning of a diverse student body of nearly 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students while furthering Capital's advancement and meeting the challenges of higher education in the 21st century. She believes colleges and universities are most relevant when they reflect the communities they touch. She champions university-neighborhood partnerships that leverage the exchange of knowledge, discovery, and problem-solving to advance student learning, social mobility, and empowerment of all.
Dr. Paul currently serves on the board of directors of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and as a task force chair of the Council of Independent Colleges. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology, with a minor in statistics, and a doctorate in personality psychology, both from Boston University. She did a predoctoral training fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health, and earned a certificate in higher education administration from Harvard Institute for Educational Management.
The CSG Class of 2018 includes 49 graduates who were offered a total of $7,259,005 in scholarship awards. They will attend 34 colleges and universities in 14 states. Hundreds of family members, friends, faculty, staff, and alumnae are expected to join the School's leadership for Commencement, Thursday, June 7, at 2:00 pm on CSG's Main Campus, 65 S. Drexel Avenue, Bexley, OH 43209.
Elements of CSG’s Commencement have been in place since its founding. Seniors have worn white dresses and carried bouquets of flowers since our first ceremony in 1899, accompanied in a formal procession by younger students and members of the faculty. The traditional Service includes songs and readings that are a part of the school’s history and also reflect the growth and diversity of Columbus School for Girls.
