Letter from the Lower School Director

April 19, 2024

Dear Lower School Parents and Guardians,

Wow! We have covered a lot of territory this week! From the Form V Eras Tours taking us through the rich history of CSG, to Wednesday’s walk back into 1898 at the Ohio Village, to Thursday’s Reading Festival in which we were captivated by the Form III Wax Museum, to today’s Scholarship Walk. There truly is no place like CSG!

As a data point today, we gave each girl a star with each lap they completed. As a Lower School, the girls walked/ran the track with a  purpose today and completed 1,348 laps…that is 337 miles! Incredible! If you give Lower School girls a goal they are driven to reach that goal or even surpass it! This week we also had several Lower School students donate their own money to the Scholars Fund--several girls did so from the proceeds of their profits at the marketplace, and our CSG Form IV Girl Scout troop donated a generous gift from the proceeds of their cookie sales. Both big and small gifts are an important reminder of how we can give our time, talent and treasures back to those in our community.

ROX Mother/Daughter Event: Strengthening Communication & Connection For Moms & Daughters (Grades 4-5)
As girls grow up, it can feel more and more difficult for adults to connect with them. One day she’s bold and talkative, the next she’s distant and withdrawn. Between school stressors and social media pressures, she needs support to handle life’s challenges. Understandably, the communication gap can make being there for her in the ways that she needs a challenge. You deserve support, and so does she.

Join Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) for a fun and empowering morning for female caregivers and girls, grades 4-5, to strengthen connection and communication.

With the guidance of a licensed counselor, girls will get to connect with other girls and talk about what it means to “find their voice." Meanwhile, adults will learn simple strategies for empowering and communicating with their girls. The experience will culminate in a self-defense workshop where girls and adults come together to learn the verbal and physical skills needed for threatening situations.
