A Message from the PYC Director

March 15, 2024

Dear PYC Families,

We had an amazing last day of school before Spring Break! The girls were in awe of the “big school” that seniors enthusiastically decorated for Senior Day, which this year had the theme of the animated musical adventure, Rio. Thanks to the work of the Class of 2024, the girls got to walk through a bright and colorful wonderland! We spent the morning taking part in festivities offered by our senior class, jumping in bounce houses, dancing to music, playing carnival games, getting our face painted, and eating yummy treats. It was a blast to celebrate the senior class with an all-school festival that has been a tradition at CSG for many years. What a fantastic way to join in community together before we leave for two weeks. I wish you all a restful Spring Break, and I look forward to seeing you all in the Columbia House when we return on Monday, April 1st.

My best,
Angie

Family Workshop Series

Dear CSG Families,

We're thrilled to invite you to our second Family Workshop Series session, Girls & Resilience, on Wednesday, April 3 at 6:30pm in the Unicorn Theater. This session will focus on the ways in which we can help girls to meet and overcome challenges with courage, strength, and grace. You may RSVP your attendance here.

Our Family Workshop Series is designed to equip families with the tools they need to empower and support their daughters. CSG is partnering with The Gestalt Institute of Columbus for this special program, which will help families learn how to navigate the challenges associated with parenting and develop skills for supporting their daughters as they move toward independence. Our next and final session, Maximizing the Summer, will take place on May 15.

This is a great way to join in community to learn, build skills, understand various parenting approaches, and learn from peers. We look forward to seeing you!

CSG Scholarship Walk- Friday, April 19, 2024
Hollywood Walk of Fame

The CSG Scholarship Walk is a beloved tradition that dates back to 1972. While the location and distance walked may have changed over the years, our commitment remains to ensure that every student who could flourish and thrive at CSG has the opportunity to do so. The exchange of ideas and perspectives, in a diverse and inclusive environment, is critical to creating a richer learning experience for every student on campus. This past school year, over $2.4 million was awarded in scholarships and tuition assistance to 38% of our student body. Your support of the CSG Scholarship Walk allows us to remain committed to continuing to foster a vibrant school community and ensuring that a CSG education is accessible to families all over central Ohio.

This year’s walk is on Friday, April 19. PYC and Lower School students should report to their homerooms at regular time. We will then gather with Middle and Upper School students in the Mansion Courtyard at 8:30 a.m. for donuts and the annual dance party led by the seniors. At 9:00 a.m. the PYC 3/4 and 4/5 class will begin their walk around Bexley. The PYC 5/6 and Lower School classes will be bussed to Kirk Campus. Once they arrive at Kirk, students will walk around the track and then meet up with their big sisters who have walked to Kirk, and have lunch, relax, and play games. At approximately 11:30 a.m. students will be bussed back to main campus and will finish out their school day. Dismissal will take place at regular times for half day and full day students respectively.

What to Wear & Bring

  • comfortable, layered clothing
  • appropriate athletic shoes and socks for walking

  • rain gear if there is a chance of light rain

  • a refillable water bottle

  • lunch (5/6 class and Lower School only; all items need to be peanut and tree nut free)

Volunteers Needed
We need your help to make Scholarship Walk a huge success! To sign up to volunteer along the route that Middle and Upper School students walk, click here

Donations & Scholarship Walk Shirts
We encourage families and friends to make a donation and/or purchase a Scholarship Walk t-shirt on the CSG website. Donations of cash and check should be collected and turned into the PYC or LS Office or the development office in Kibler House. The deadline to purchase a Scholarship Walk shirt is Wednesday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m.

A message from Power Library  . . .   PYC is looking for Unicorns!

In preparation for Children’s Book Week in April, which is concentrating  on the history of CSG,  its 125th anniversary, and its many traditions, the PYC is going to focus on one of our favorite traditions:  the unicorn as our mascot!

We’d like to make a display of photographs of  PYC students holding a unicorn stuffed animal or statue.  If you’d like to share a photo of your daughter with a unicorn, please email the image to Annie Ruefle, the PYC and LS Librarian,  at aruefle@columbusschoolforgirls.org

Please note:  these photos will NOT be shared on our social media accounts --  they will only be used for a display inside our school.
