Form IV CEDAR Book Club
CEDAR stands for “Cultivating Empathy, Diversity, and Respect.” Once a month, Form IV CEDAR participants read a book related to the issues surrounding these topics and discuss how it relates to our own community at CSG. Discussions are facilitated by the Lower School Director, and a faculty member. Other faculty members and guest speakers participate. Recent books read include The Year of the Baby by Andrea Cheng, Rules by Cynthia Lord, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, Glory Be by Augusta Scattergood, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies, and Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan.

Form V Newbery Book Club
The Form V Newbery Book Club meets once a month. The meetings are normally led by two students. They announce the title of the book to be discussed, and plan the meeting with assistance from the Lower School Librarian. Students sign up in advance to participate. The book discussions occur during morning recess and lunch to maximize the amount of time together. Chosen titles have all been either Newbery Award winners or honorees. Recent books read include One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate, Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse, and Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary.

Mystery Readers Book Club
The Mystery Readers Book Club is an opportunity for Form III students to "get a clue" once a month and enjoy an energetic club with mystery books as its focus. Students read a book from a popular mystery series and then meet to discuss the books as well play games and activities based on the series. Discussions and activities are facilitated by the Lower School Librarian. Some of the mystery series read by Form III include Encyclopedia Brown by Donald Sobol, A-Z Mysteries by Ron Roy, and Cam Jansen by David Adler.

The Excitement is Building! Creating with KAPLA Blocks
KAPLA blocks encourage children to think logically and to develop their spatial awareness along with a basic knowledge of geometry, physics, and technology. Through the use of identical unfixed pieces, the girls are encouraged to think in a different way to use their imaginations to construct buildings, animals, and designs. Building with KAPLA encourages perseverance, patience, and concentration while having lots of fun!

Service Learning Club
The Service Learning Club provides in-school and after-school opportunities for students to plan, organize, and execute service learning projects for local organizations. Students are closely involved in the entire process, and are fully engaged and invested in making a difference in the community. Past service learning projects have included creating artwork, decorating pillowcases, and making blankets for the Furniture Bank, collecting and organizing a book drive for Reach Out and Read through Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and reading with students from Godman Guild in a joint service project at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
