| Upper School students practice reasoning and communication skills Last Friday, Upper School AP Biology students individually took tests on photosynthesis and cellular respiration. In the following class held early this week, they teamed up in small groups to compare answers to multiple choice questions and run through the test again before receiving their test grade. During group time, they shared reasoning behind their answers, listened to peers, and debated the merits of each answer before reaching a group consensus. A scratch-off answer sheet allowed the teams to learn in real time whether they chose the correct answer. If they chose incorrectly they could go back to the drawing board and work together to find the correct answer from the remaining options. The communication skills students exercised in this group assessment are invaluable and can be applied in the classroom and beyond. |
