Journey to CSG

I came to Columbus School for Girls in the 6th grade from a very small school, called Mansion Day School. During the transition from fifth to sixth grade my parents and I began looking for schools to continue my education. We looked at other popular private schools in the area, including the one that almost all of my classmates were going to attend the next year. We came and looked at CSG and I knew that I wanted to be here. Though the transition was a bit challenging, the community atmosphere at CSG allowed me to fit in and become the girl I am today… there’s no place I’d rather be!

Extracurricular highlights

I run on both the cross country and track teams and have since my freshman and seventh grade years respectively. I love participating in a sport at CSG because it has helped me to come out of my shell and meet new people! This year I am the captain of the team and that has helped me to branch out even more. I am also on student council and am the president of the Senior class of 2018. I think that being on student council has also helped me to be more confident while leading my class, and has especially helped my public speaking skills.

Favorite class at CSG

My favorite class at CSG is literature because I love the discussions that we have surrounding our current class reading. With so many different teachers available to teach the class discussions on the same books are never the same. In three years of high school I have had three different teachers, each one provoking different discussions.

My special person at CSG is Candie Bowers, a lunch staff member at our school. From providing an extra hot plate of my favorite type of pizza when the lunch room had run out to always making me smile after waiting in a long line, Mrs. Bowers has been there for me through and through!!

Favorite CSG tradition

My favorite CSG tradition is definitely senior caroling. Every year the senior class dresses up in holiday garb and goes around the school singing different holiday songs. The students dress up according to how long they’ve been at CSG, starting with Santa and Mrs. Claus all the way through different holiday clothing. Though I haven’t yet had the opportunity to participate, I cannot wait to have my chance.

Friends!! Always!

Favorite CSG lunch

Right now my favorite CSG lunch is Yankee pot roast because it feels like a home cooked dinner. That being said, my lunch favorites are always changing because there are so many amazing options.

Favorite Bexley hangout

Table, the restaurant in Market District. Their caesar salad is so good!

Best part about an all-girls environment

I think that the best part of an all-girls environment is two-fold… one being the freedom to have confidence and two which is a bit more fun, not having to brush your hair every day! I feel the freedom in every class to speak up and answer any question without the fear of being wrong, that’s not something you get in every environment. The second part is self-explanatory, I love being able to come to school however I want in the morning! Both are such amazing facets of CSG that I couldn’t choose just one.
