CSG senior Ella Feinberg '21 is the recipient of the National Merit American Electric Power Scholarship.
About 1,000 corporate-sponsored scholarships are awarded to select students in a group of approximately 15,000 National Merit Finalists nationwide. Feinberg and CSG senior Alison Zheng '21 were among the 15,000 students nationwide who were recognized as 2021 National Merit Finalists earlier this school year.
About 220 companies and businesses finance National Merit Scholarships for Finalists who meet their specified criteria. Recipients of the corporate-sponsored awards are children of a sponsor organization’s employees, residents of communities where a company has plants or offices, or students with a college major or career interests a sponsor wishes to encourage. After graduation, Feinberg is attending Columbia University where she plans to major in economics and political science.
About the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition:
In order to advance in the competition and be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, a Semifinalist had to become a Finalist by fulfilling several requirements that included submitting a detailed scholarship application and presenting a record of very high academic performance. All winners of about 7,500 National Merit Scholarships are chosen from the group of approximately 15,000 distinguished Finalists.
