Honor Council

The Honor Council is comprised of students elected by the student body from the three upper grades. The Senior Prefect is a member of the senior class and the Vice- Prefect is chosen from the junior class. The council also has the appropriate grade level dean, the Honor Council advisor and the head of the Upper School as members. The goal of the Honor Council is to:

Listen to each case brought before it.
Decide whether or not Honor has been violated.
Make a recommendation to the administration about a possible penalty for the student involved, if Honor has been violated.

Honor Code

The written Honor Code at Columbus School for Girls was created by Upper School students and faculty during the school years 2003 to 2005, and adopted by Middle School.

Upper School Honor Code

T he written Honor Code serves as an expression of the community values and aspirations shared and practiced by generations of CSG students past and yet to come. The Honor Code is signed at the start of every school year. Upper School students sign the Honor Code at a formal Chapel program led by the Upper School Honor Council.  Middle School students signs the Honor Code at their Goal Setting Conference where their parents are aksed to witness and co-sign the document.

Each students signature represents her pledge and commitment to the highest standards of honorable, ethical behavior.

The Honor Pledge
As a member of the CSG community, I pledge to conduct myself honorably, with truthfulness and honesty at all times. I will live in our community practicing respect, responsibility, and reverence.

Truthfulness

  • I will fulfill my promises and obligations.
  • I will not intentionally misrepresent the truth, withhold information, create a false impression, nor mislead anyone.

 

Honesty

  • Cheating: I will not copy the work of another, give nor receive answers on tests, nor divulge the questions on a test to someone who has not yet taken it.
  • Plagiarism: I will not present the work or ideas of another as my own. I will identify the source of all ideas that are not my own.
  • Stealing: I will not take, use or borrow the belongings of anyone without the permission of the owner.
