Modern and Classical Languages

The main objective of the modern and classical language program is to enable students to communicate effectively and accurately in a second language.

More specifically, the program is designed to facilitate their ability to write and speak the target language as well as encourage appreciation and understanding of the culture and literature of the countries in which the language is spoken. The department endeavors to provide travel opportunities abroad.

Upper School students take three full years of one language, students have the OPTION OF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING LANGUAGES AND THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL:

  • Latin I, II, III, IV, V, AP Vergil
  • German I, II, III, IV, AP German Language
  • Mandarin Chinese I, II, III, IV
  • Spanish I, II, III, IV, V, AP Spanish Language
