Posted October 25, 2012

Author, Andrea Cheng, spoke to the Lower School during Chapel on October 25. Andrea is the reciepent of the 2012 Ohioana Book Award for Juvinille Literature. She reflected on her writing career, writing as child, and finally being published about fifteen years ago. She shared some of her earliest stories with the girls, photos of her family and how they are woven into her books, and the myriad of rejection letters she has received over the years. It was obvious her patience and persistence paid off. She is the author of 18 books and writes primarily for grades 3 - 6 but many of her books are enjoyed by children younger and older.

Mrs. Cheng will officially receive her award Friday, October 26 at a reception at the State House. Lower School faculty, Betsy Gugle, Martha Shaw, Tracey Kessler, and Charlotte Stiverson along with Form IV girls,Sofia Feinberg, Natalie Tangeman, Jordan Pace, Julia Gumina, Sophia Sommer, and Caroline Kromalic will also attend. Two members of Form IV have the honor of presenting the award to Mrs. Cheng.
