CSG Votes Team Lands Key Interviews

As part of a course long project students in Mr. Phillip Brown's Political Science class have been working hard on establishing a mock election for Columbus School for Girls (CSG). The two classes have been divided into three groups; Board of Elections, Data and Analysis, and Media. The girls have worked with each division to establish relevant ballots and register voters. Each week the girls have submitted position papers on key topics and analyized data from the national election scene. The media group has been working with parents and members of the CSG community to schedule interviews with a variety of government officials and candidates. The first interview the group was able to esbablish was with the Columbus City Auditor, Hugh Dorrian. Next they spoke with Josh Mandel, Ohio's 48th treasurer and running against incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown. The media team had a short phone interview with Treasurer Mandel and was able to meet with Senator Sherrod Brown in person at Ohio Democratic Headquarters. Next the girls were off to Delaware, Ohio and invited as guests to the town hall meeting where they had the opportunity to interview several local people in the government. The girls were able to hear Governor Mitt Romney speak to the crowd and had the chance to meet him briefly and have lunch with the Governor.
