Author in Residence, Michael J. Rosen Visits with Form II Girls
Posted October 4, 2012
In conjunction with the Lower School author collaboration with Michael J. Rosen, Mr. Rosen visited the Lower School Technology Lab on October 3 to film poetry readings for a “Poetry Friday” website. Although the filming was done in the Lower School Technology Lab in front of the green screen wall, the finished product transports Mr. Rosen and “Skeletina”, the Lower School Science Lab skeleton, to a cemetery for the reading of Humerus (Or Funny Bone). His reading of Earthworms is accompanied by giant creepy crawly earthworms. Form II girls formed the backdrop for his poem Centipede as they made one giant long centipede in the courtyard in front of the Lower School building.
Mr. Rosen has been working with homeroom teachers to share his books that fit into their curriculum, and enhance students’ writing during a workshop. So far, he has visited Form II and helped them focus on descriptive writing about favorite foods. He will work with many other classes during his next visit, October 8.
Mr. Rosen will be featured at Jubilee and available to sign his books. Be sure to get more infomation about his apperance and Jubilee online.
