Dispatch Athlete of the Week: Sophie Sugar

The Dispatch high-school Athletes of the Week, based on performances for the week of April 9-15:

Sophie Sugar

COLUMBUS SCHOOL FOR GIRLS, LACROSSE

Sugar, a sophomore midfielder, scored 11 goals in two victories. Sugar had five goals and three draw controls in a 16-5 win over Marysville. She had six goals and four ground balls as CSG defeated previously unbeaten DeSales 11-9.

Jackie Fowler

CENTRAL CROSSING, SOFTBALL

Fowler, a sophomore center fielder, batted .500 (7 for 14) with eight RBI as the Comets went 4-0 for the week. She hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning of a 6-2 win over Hilliard Davidson after having an RBI single and scoring in the seventh to force extra innings. Fowler hit a walk-off, two-run triple in the eighth in a 6-4 win over Canal Winchester. She also went 2 for 3 and drove in a run in a 7-1 win over Upper Arlington and had an RBI in a 4-1 victory over Worthington Kilbourne.
