A Sharing of diverse Perspectives.
A Commitment to LIFELONG LEARNING.
Saturday, April 29th in the Alumnae Living Room of the Mansion:
Ta-Nehisi Coates, Between the World and Me (2015): In a series of essays written as a letter to his son, Coates explores the concept of race in America from slavery and Jim Crow antecedents to difficult questions regarding mass incarcerations and police brutality that continue to plague our contemporary society. Ta-Nehisi Coates is a national correspondent for The Atlantic and writes about culture, politics and social issues. This salon will be partnered with CSG’s I.D.E.A. book club (Inclusion. Diversity. Equity. Advocacy.), and the text is used in the English curriculum of the Upper School.
Dr. Perry Rogers of the CSG History Department will moderate the discussion.
