Visual Arts

Fine Arts

The Visual Arts at CSG are much more than hands-on-activities.

Art reflects world history. By bringing historical reference to art one connects with the circumstances happening during and influencing art. Art is a bold statement about world cultures and the cultures of the societies of the time.

By exposing the girls to real examples of work through field trips, videos, examples from private collections, they take ownership of personal experience with the examples they visit. The aesthetic appreciation of art involves understanding the emotional response to any given piece because of color, subject matter, style, and media used. We are surrounded by art in our daily lives: clothing, car design, architecture, our homes and gardens, and fine art.

By introducing children to a wide variety of media in a spiraling learning environment and integrated curriculum, each one can find a comfortable level of personal artistic expression and appreciation. They can associate the relevance of the arts to the world around them.
