Young Alumnae Council

Mission:

To provide inclusive social interaction for all young alumnae, to have our philanthropic efforts impact the CSG community, and provide mentorship for current students and young alumnae throughout their collegiate and post collegiate years.

The Young Alumnae Council plans several social events each year, including the annual CSG Tailgate, cocktail parties with the Head of School, and other opportunities for CSG alumnae to reconnect. Alumnae graduating within the past 20 years of the current year are considered young alumnae and are included in all of these events. As a new council, the Young Alumnae Council will continue to grow and looks forward to suggestions from other alumnae.

Events:

Social

Annual CSG Tailgate Event

The Annual CSG tailgate is an event sponsored by the Young Alumnae Council and allows CSG alumnae, new and old, to kick back and enjoy the company of parents, grandparents, spouses, and alumnae from all age groups.  You have the opportunity to renew friendships and meet the new additions to the CSG community. This event is a fun, social, and relaxing event.  After the tailgate why not enjoy a good ‘ole buckeye football game to cap off the day.

Game Day and time will be announced closer to the start of football season. For any questions about location of the tailgate please contact Katy Murnane Reis at katy.murnane@gmail.com

Winter Mixer

To keep your holiday spirits up after the New Year, the YAC will host a mixer at the Athletic Club of Columbus.  This party is geared toward post collegiate alumnae who are working professionals. As alcohol will be served this is a 21 and over event.

Philanthropic

Diversity Mentorship

Diversity mentorship is a new event in coordination with the Admissions Office of Columbus School for Girls.  African-American young alumnae in the Columbus area are encouraged to sign up with the CSG Admissions Office to give speaking engagements to the African-American current students about their time at CSG and how CSG has helped in their post collegiate careers.  You may also sign up to be a mentor to a current African-American student.

Children’s Cancer Research

In the spring we will have a philanthropic event with the Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  Young alumnae who have children are encouraged to attend this event as well as other young alumnae.  We ask young alumnae to give a donation which goes toward the YAC renting out Build-A-Bear for a certain amount of time to stuff bears for children with cancer.  Once we have stuffed the bears the alumnae will write notes of well wishes to the children.

If you would like to donate to making a bear please contact Lucy Ackley at lackley@columbusschoolforgirls.org.

Networking

Networking Party

Our final event of the school year is a networking party.  All members of the Young Alumnae Council are encouraged to come and mingle with other alumnae in different fields of work and study.  This event is one where bringing your business card is a must!!  Our hope is to create an online hub of everyone’s information so young alumnae returning to the area can reach an alumna in their field of work to find employment.  If you are an employer who is interested in viewing the resumes, please contact Lucy Ackley, lackely@columbusschoolforgirls.org
