Visiting CSG

The best way to learn about CSG’s empowering learning environment is to visit and experience it in person. In-person visits are also a valuable opportunity for us to get to know each applicant as an individual learner. We individually schedule parent and student visits for every applicant, and describe these visits in detail below.

We also offer several admission events for prospective families to visit our campus. Please see our Admission Event Calendar for details here.

Parent Meetings

An individual parent meeting is a required part of the application process, and usually includes both a conversation with an admission director and a campus tour on a school day. We value these individual meetings, which enable us to learn about your daughter directly from you. Please call to schedule your visit.

Student Visits

We invite every applicant to CSG to visit our school as a required part of the admission process. We recognize that before visiting a new and unfamiliar school, students often experience a combination of anticipation, excitement, and anxiety. We warmly welcome every visitor, and work hard to ensure that each has a positive and memorable experience. In that spirit, we offer a preview of what to expect during admission visits to each of our divisions.

Program for Young Children Student Visit

PYC applicants visit in small groups on Saturday mornings in January and February. Teachers will observe the girls as they explore classroom materials and work with each visitor individually. While the students spend time in the classroom, we invite parents to join Amy Whitley, Interim Director of the Program for Young Children, in the Mansion Living Room for refreshments and a discussion about our PYC curriculum and program.

Before the visit, we will confirm all details with parents via e-mail. Following your visit, we value the opportunity to share feedback and ensure that our teachers gained an accurate picture of your daughter’s current development and strengths.

Lower School Student Visit

Before your Visit
The day before your daughter’s visit, the Admission Office will send you a short video from a teacher and student of the class she will be visiting. They will let you know what to expect during the day, and will be sure to let you know if your daughter needs to bring anything special for her visit.

Visit day

Plan to arrive in the Admission Office at 8:15 a.m. so you can meet the Admission Office staff and your daughter can get settled for the day. When you arrive, we will escort you and your daughter to the classroom where we will meet her teacher and host buddy, and then leave her to get started on her visit day. At the end of the day, we will pick up your daughter from the classroom and bring her to meet you in the Admission Office at 1:45 p.m.

What to Wear

We do not have an official dress code for our visitors, but do ask that you dress your daughter in school-appropriate clothing for her visit day. Please keep in mind that our students go outside for recess even when there is snow on the ground, so it is a good idea to send her with a hat, gloves, coat, and boots to stay warm.

Lunch
We offer a delicious assortment of options for lunch, including a variety of choices for girls with dietary restrictions. There is no need to send money as lunch is included in her visit. Click here to see CSG's menu.

Middle School Student Visit

Before your Visit
The night before your visit a CSG student who has been assigned as your host buddy will call you to introduce herself and give you some specific information regarding the visit day. She will inform you of her daily schedule and any uniform changes (i.e. PE attire, dress down day, etc…) or special happenings so you are well-prepared for the day.

Visit day

Plan to arrive at 7:50 a.m. so you can meet the Admission Office staff and get settled for the day. Shortly after your arrival, your host buddy will arrive to meet you and take you to her 1st period class. Once in the Middle School, your host buddy will introduce you to her teachers and classmates and will arrange for another classmate to host you if she has a test or study hall. You will visit with your hostess and classmates through lunch, and will then return to the Admission Office at 12:45 p.m, where you will meet with Trish Priest, Assistant Director of Admission. This meeting will give her an opportunity to hear about your visit and learn more about you. Your parents will arrive to pick you up around 1:00 p.m. at the school's Main entrance.

What to Wear

We do not have an official dress code for our visitors, but do ask that you wear school-appropriate clothing on your visit day. Clothing must not expose midriff or cleavage, and skirts and shorts should be no shorter than three inches above the knee. Also, if your host buddy shares that you will be attending PE, you might want to bring a change of comfortable clothes and a pair of gym shoes.
