Technology
Columbus School for Girls provides a technologically integrated and innovative environment in which girls develop the skills, knowledge, and self-confidence to actively contribute to an ever-changing technological world.
We strive to have an environment where technology is embedded in the culture of daily life. Every member of our community will be able to research, manipulate, analyze, and communicate information effectively. We will be critical and ethical users of technology and address societal and scientific issues through current and future technologies. Our community will have the ability to recognize emerging needs and develop innovative solutions.
About Information Technology
The Information Technology Department works closely within the academic curriculum. Lower and Middle School students have computer class once per cycle, and often use laptops in their classrooms. All Form IX students take a semester of Technology Project, which covers basic skills used throughout Upper School.
The Information Technology Department supports classroom teachers at all levels to incorporate technology in their lesson plans and assignments. Hardware and software resources at Columbus School for Girls include a stable and robust network operating system (five Windows 2003 servers) and over 300 desktop, laptop, and tablet computers. Wireless access is available across our campus to enhance mobile computing. Internet access is provided by two T-1 lines. A Microsoft Exchange server provides e-mail for all middle and upper school students, and all faculty and staff.
