Library Services
The Catherine Hamilton Power Library (PYC-Form V) and the Eleanor Kurtz Beaton Library (Forms VI – XII) welcome all students, faculty, and staff during the school year for instruction, research, study, or leisure reading.
There have been more than 70 studies on the impact of school library programs on academic achievement. The findings have been consistent. An excellent library program correlates with a 10 to 20 percent increase in standardized test scores when compared to schools without this strong educational component.
- Quality print, digital, audiovisual, and technology resources support and enrich the curriculum.
- Carefully selected book collections help students to become lifelong readers for information and enjoyment.
- State of the art technology is incorporated into the learning/teaching process. CSG works hand in hand with area libraries: Capital University, Columbus Metropolitan Library, Bexley Library, Ohioana Library.
- The professionally trained and credentialed librarians plan and team teach with faculty at all division levels. The librarians teach information literacy skills and provide individual assistance to students.
- Dedicated support staff enables the professional librarians to collaborate with teachers, and to participate in school-wide committee meetings and projects.
- Technology is an essential part of a successful library program. Information resources, including licensed databases, are available throughout the school via networked computers and wireless access points throughout the school. Going beyond the walls of the physical library, all digital resources can be accessed wherever there is an Internet connection, on and off campus.
- The librarians provide professional development and in-service training for teachers on integrating information literacy into the curriculum, and getting the most out of technology.
