Welcome from the Head of School
Dear Friends,
A Columbus School for Girls education challenges a student, builds confidence and competence, and strengthens a girl’s ability to collaborate and compete in the exciting world that lies ahead when she leaves CSG as a young adult. We are for girls, for excellence, for the future! Girls are 100% of our mission.
The classroom is the heart of CSG, where girls find challenge, excitement, freedom to experiment, rigorous debate, and laughter. We believe that learning best takes place in the context of relationships. Together, girls and their teachers search for the metaphor within a poem, the significance of an historic event, the core of a scientific or mathematical theory, and the truth in an ethical ambiguity. Together, we seek solutions to enduring questions that students for over a century have pondered - as well as theories to address technological problems that our predecessors could not have imagined. Here at CSG, girls study, conduct research, set up experiments, participate in projects, and give their own unique voice to ideas. Confident that our students can achieve anything they choose, we open doors for each one to explore math, humanities, science, the arts, technology, and athletics.
From the opening Convocation in August to the pageantry of graduation in June, the girls at CSG discover that our traditions, small and large, ground us in an ever changing world and create an environment where community is a primary value and highly supportive of girls and young women. While we continue to value traditions, we also recognize the growing need for the adaptation of a global perspective as well as the acquisition of technological fluency. CSG offers an education that engages students in a learning process that excites their imaginations. Through an integrated, multi-layered, and enriched curriculum, students can develop intellectual skills, as well as form the capacity for accepting major responsibilities in the community at large. A CSG education best prepares young women to live and work in an increasingly complex world by providing them with the tools they need to live well today and to build their futures.
We welcome your inquiry into the Columbus School for Girls experience. Come see what makes CSG the best place for your daughter.
Sincerely,
Diane Cooper, Ed. D.
